Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American Canadian singer and songwriter. There are more than 20 albums. DiFranco describes her music as folk-rock and alternative, but it also has influences from punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani diFranco was the first artist to launch her own record label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage as was her mother from Montreal. Ani DiFranco composed and sang 32 Flavors. This song appeared on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. A version of the song can be heard in the film Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she planned to host the three-day event in the former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco released an apology a couple of weeks later. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she's collaborated with many artists and genres that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. Her home is New Orleans.
